HOSTILE VEHICLE MITIGATION (HVM)

WHAT IS HOSTILE VEHICLE MITIGATION?

Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) is a protective security discipline focussing on reducing risks associated with vehicle borne threats posed by terrorists and criminals.

HVM is the delivery of measures that are informed by the threat and how it manifests itself, the multiple consequences of an attack, the vulnerability of a given location and the needs of the enterprise requiring protection.

The basis of HVM are security risk assessments, security planning, design and the deployment of risk-based measures.

Our customer base can rest assured that RH Industrials Ltd can provide a turnkey solution with the following disciplines provided by one supplier:
– Selection of Products
– Supply of Products
– Civil Engineering

STANDARDS & TESTING

WHAT IS PAS 68?
PAS 68 is the Public Available Specification for impact performance requirements for Vehicle Security Barriers (VSB), Gates, Bollards, Blockers, Fencing and Street Furniture. Guidelines set out by the British Standards Institution (BSI) specifies a classification system for the performance of Vehicle Security Barriers subjected to a horizontal impact. VSB will be tested against a range of methods to be granted classification, such as , impact methods, vehicle types, speed, weight and their performance.

WHAT IS IWA14-1?
IWA-14 (International Workshop Agreement) defines the essential impact performance requirement for a Vehicle Security Barrier (VSB) and is a global standard prepared with input from the USA Department of State and CPNI/BSI. This standard combines and updates elements from PAS 68, ASTM F2656 and CWA16221.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAS68 AND IWA14-1?
IWA-14 follows similar testing structure to PAS68, but with two main differences:
– IWA 14 Penetration Measurement is Taken From The Front Face, PAS68 is Taken from the Back.
– IWA 14 Debris Dispersion is NOT Recorded

WHAT IS PAS69 AND IWA14-2?
– PAS69 Provides Guidance on Selection, Installation and use of Vehicle Security Barriers (VSB).
– IWA14-2 Provides Guidance on the Selection, Installation and use of Security Barriers (SB).
